- Priced at only $150
- Significantly better graphics due to the increased processing power behind the Xbox 360.
- Kinect will have better online interface than the Wii.
- Exercise games won't require attachments
- The Kinect is just an attachment; the main console will still be able to play regular Xbox 360 games. This is sure to thrill the hardcore gamer in your family.
Problems With The Microsoft Kinect
- Requires an existing Xbox 360 console to attach to, making it more expensive if you don't already own a 360.
- Multiplayer might not work as well without controllers.
- The Wii has a four year head start on producing software for the system.

Reasons To Buy A Wii Instead Of A Kinect
Of course, Nintendo's premier console wouldn't be the top selling game console in the world for months and months on end if it didn't have some high points of its own, would it?
- As a stand alone console, it does not require any additional purchases to make it work.
- A deep game library that has a little something for everyone, including Nintendo designed games like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Wii Fit.
- Time-tested local multi-player and family games.
- Intuitive controls
- Classic Nintendo characters like Mario, Link, Kirby and more are favorites of young and old alike.
And, of course, there are some downsides to the Wii when it comes to Kinect vs Wii arguments, as well.
Problems With The Nintendo Wii
- Additional controllers have to be purchased separately to ensure full multi-player.
- The Nintendo Wii's graphics hardware are notoriously underpowered compared to the Xbox.
- Very poor online implementation.
- Not as well received among the hardcore gaming population (but well loved by families)

lolz Xbox because its up and coming or PS3 is just as good and cheaper :) good luck.
I would definitely recommend the PlayStation Move on PS3. You get the best of both worlds with a much more valuable extra that can't be found on either one of those. Blu-Ray.
With the Move, you get a camera (which has hands-free games) and a Move controller (which allows for games to control better than Wii games), a free online service, reliable hardware and more for $300 (or $400 total if you want the Move PS3 bundle).
The Wii is fun, but is limited due to no camera. The Xbox is cool, but has a very nickel-and-dime-style strategy. Kinect isn't working well right now (went to Macy's last night). Honestly, to get Kinect capabilities, Wii capabilities, free online service AND a Blu-Ray player with tons of mature and family games on top, you're only choice would be the PS3.
I'm saying this from experience. I play the PS3 just a bit more than my 360 due to exclusives and wide range of games. The 360 has mostly shooters (which is fine with me) but subscription fees are a turn off.
@len cannon Whats wrong with the concept it takes the best features of both the wii and kinect and implements them with perfection.. True 1:1 motion sensing with a diverse collection of core and casual games.. Its the best of the 3 if you ask me.. Don't write something off by apperances. Just look at kinect it looks hi tech and the device that will push our industry but so far microsoft is falling on its face...
There is a ton of info on move around the net and therefore i can not see why you couldn't include move in this debate. Also if you would have bothered to look it up the facts on move you would see that move is clearly the best controller for anyone looking to step up to a next gen controller.
If you do not get move for the ps3 then you are a fool.
1.the move/eye/nav combo is a better way to control then with just kinect or with just a wii controller and motion+.
2. you get the power of the ps3 to back it up unlike with the wii and its controller.
3. sony is making move for mature games unlike microsoft and nintendo are doing with their controllers.
Heavy Rain and KillZone 3 alone have me sold on move.
Good article. Personally I can both see reasons why, and why not, to include the PS3's move, but it doesn't diminish this article.
(Small note: the title contains a grammatical error. It should say: "Should I buy a Nintendo Wii or AN Xbox Kinect", instead of "A Xbox Kinect"
In all fairness PS MOVE will be the better tech to buy nowadays.
The Wii has done what it needed to do, BUT it's not good for hardcore gamers as it's not 1:1 and it's shows on the games made for the Wii, while the PS MOVE is full 1:1 and the games look MUCH better and play much better as clearly showed to us at E3.
Kinect is just a mistake IN MY OPINION much like the HD-DVD.
I used to have a wii, but my middle brother took it with him when he moved to Portland (has a girlfriend there). Thinking about getting a new one when I get the extra money (I have a few unfinished games as well, such as Zelda Twilight Princess and Metroid Primes 2 and 3). I probably will get the Kinnect (my dad works for Microsoft after all), but not right away.
Kinnect is a definitely interesting technology, but can't replace the need of remote and that's the fact. Where are the shooters game... one can't run staying on the same place!! I believe if some one plan to buy wii fit ..then better to buy Kinnect as you will get more in it... other thing is a precision, I still don't believe that image motion detection technology will be that precise that wii remote posesse.. one should buy 2nd or 3rd generation of kinnect..
I LIKE THE WII MUCH MORE THAN KINECT AND PS3!!
I would think the Kinect would be alot funner. No controllers! Also I like some Wii games, but I find most of the wii stuff to childish. I know that's not a bad thing but it does get old lol.
Nice Hub. I really like Kinect and think it will be much better than the Wii. Nintendo didn't even do anything to improve the Wii. Also Kinect is not very expensive. I might get one this Christmas season.
depends which of the consoles have pokemon
There is no point to console bashing. Either way, all three of the consoles are good for different "levels of gaming". The Wii is obviously built for young kids, families and the older generation (you gotta keep grannie in the loop). Keeps up morale and everybody is moving and having fun. Xbox, i would say is for more moderate to heavy players - great graphics and a good list of games (I can't wait to get my hands on one). Now that damn PS3...... Those things are for hermits and shut-in's should i say more? Once you know where you stand, everything should be gravy. Luv the hub...
It depends on what you are using it for
No controllers works better for games like dance dance revolution, which I am not interested in at all. However for games like Hockey (IE Wayne Gretsky's Slap Shot)you really do need a controller.
I pick the Wii
i'm thinking of getting the move.. anyone here have a good review site for the move?
i picked up a kinect
i have bought kinec nd it is working well or me, i m just loving it
